Journal of Data and Digital Innovation
JDDI publishes quarterly under DataLens Publications, carrying ISSN 3106-938X online and 3106-7352 in print, with Usman Mazher as Chief Editor. Its scope is interdisciplinary: artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics, cloud computing, blockchain, cybersecurity and IoT, and the effect of each on business, education, healthcare and public policy.
What the work involved
A second OJS deployment, which sounds like the same project twice and is not. The platform is shared; the configuration is not. Each journal has its own review stages, its own section editors, its own submission requirements, and its own set of indexing services to satisfy, and the metadata each of those services reads differs in the details.
JDDI reaches eight: Google Scholar, Crossref, Citefactor, Research Bib, the ISSN register, PKP's own index, Zenodo and Authorea. The last two matter more than their position in that list suggests, because a deposit into a general-purpose repository puts an article in front of readers who would never browse a journal in this subject.
What is transferable from it
Running two journals on one platform is materially cheaper than running two platforms, and the saving is in the part nobody quotes for: one upgrade path, one backup routine, one set of security patches. The editorial independence people worry about losing is a configuration question, not an infrastructure one.
