Euro Vantage Journal of Artificial Intelligence
EVJAI publishes quarterly, open access, across machine learning, deep learning, neural networks, natural language processing, computer vision, robotics and data science, together with AI ethics and applied work in healthcare, finance, education and industry. It carries ISSN 3080-4051 online and 3080-3403 in print, and lists Dr. Hafsa Shareef Dar as Chief Editor.
What the work involved
The platform is Open Journal Systems, the Public Knowledge Project software that most scholarly publishers run on. Choosing OJS rather than building a submission system was the first decision and the correct one: peer review has been solved, and a custom implementation would have meant reproducing a workflow that reviewers, editors and indexers already know, with none of the compatibility that comes free.
The work that remained is the work that decides whether a journal is found at all:
- Article metadata emitted in the tags that indexing services read, which is where most journals silently fail rather than in their editorial standards.
- DOI registration through Crossref, so a citation still resolves after any future redesign of the site.
- Full text reachable without a login, because a crawler cannot sign in and an un-crawlable article is an unfindable one.
- A submission and review workflow configured to the journal's own stages rather than left at the defaults.
Where it stands
The journal is live, accepting submissions, and indexed in Google Scholar, Crossref, Citefactor, Research Bib and the ISSN register. The site states an average of twenty days from submission to acceptance decision.
What is transferable from it
Every journal that cannot be found has the same problem in a different arrangement: metadata that does not match what indexers read, addresses that change, or full text behind a login. None of it is visible from the editorial side, which is why a journal can be publishing good work and remain invisible for years.
